The Hamilton Parlor Organ, Circa 1895
How much is necessary to be said about such a lovely piece.
This Hamilton pump organ, with its delicately carved fretwork is another perfect example of mixing just the right amount of ornate detail with superb cabinet design. The wood is all solid walnut and restored just lovely.
See the BEFORE picture below.
Restoration of this organ was a challenge to us in many ways. The fretwork was quite delicate, and as you can see below, quite broken. The wood was solid enough, but needed enoumous amounts of sanding and sealing. A replacement pump had to be found, as well as a new reedpan shelf. Previous attemps to electrify the organ resulted in loss of many original parts. These pictures speak for themselves, and the organ is now resting at home in Missouri.
This 'BEFORE' picture says it all. This forgotten organ did not even have a pump inside. Not only did we restore the foot pump, but we found an original HAMILTON pump to keep the organ's antique value intact.
